General Orientation: An introduction course to sewing tools available for use at Tempe Makerspace. The course will provide a comprehensive overview of safety, procedures, and best practices. The course is two hours long and is designed for all levels of sewing experience. After the completion of the General Orientation you will have access to the sewing tools and to reserve Open Shop time. 

 

Length: 2 hrs | Class Size 5 | Fee $40

 

Costume Basics: A project based course where students will design, pattern, and build a costume. This course will provide the best practices for planning the project, as well as, the fundamentals of fabric and materials choice; and construction techniques. This course is 6 hours in length and takes place over three sessions that are 2 hours long. If additional course time is required, time can be reserved in Open Shop. Fabric and materials are not included.

Alterations & UpCycle Fashion:  A project based course where students will be instructed on the best practices of altering or upcycling a garment. This course is two hours in length and is designed for all levels of sewing experience. In addition, each student is encouraged to bring a garment to be altered or upcycled, and then be guided through the alteration specific process of their garment. If additional course time is required, time can be reserved in Open Shop. Materials are not included.

Private Makers: A project based course where students will be instructed on the best practices of constructing a project of their choice from design to completion. This course is two hours in length and is designed for all levels of sewing experience. Fabrics and materials are not included.

Open Shop: Open shop time for Tempe Makerspace students needing more time to complete a project. 

Length Ongoing: Fee $23 a day
